Widcomm 6.0.1.3400 for Vista ONLY

Hello again

Looks like ANYCOM has released the first brand spanking new version of Widcomm v6. It's both 32 and 64bit and ONLY for Vista. Don't try to install it on XP cause it won't work. No idea whether the licence pathcer will work or not.

Have fun testing and post your results.

EDIT: Link taken offline as per ANYCOM's request. If you want to dowonload their release, get it from their site/forums.

Did some testing with my Anycom USB-250 and the results aren't pretty. Looks like ANYCOM isn't installing the stack at all ! They're just using the .inf files and using the MS bluetooth stack instead So don't even bother with this one.. Let's wait for some other manufacturer to put out a proper full 6.0.xxxxxx stak.

Widcomm BTW 6.0 is a profile pack which extends Microsoft Vista stack. UI is also quite different compared to previous releases. Meanwhile most of the "full stack" functionality has been preserved. Check Bluetooth Devices control panel applet and you will see a few none Microsoft features there.

I find this add-on solution much smarter than everything we have seen from Widcomm before...

And even my internal CSR USB device is supported without any crack or INF modding

For the moment I'm just experiencing some issues with the BT Audio that results not to be properly installed in device manager (Device cannot start : Code 10). I'll try to install again and hopefully fix the problem this way

Also, I don't really understand why it tells HCI/LMP 2.1593 (it always used to be 1.2xxx). Wouldn't 2.x refer to Bluetooth 2.0 ?

By the way, it's a shame that the home grown M$ Vista stack does not natively support Headset and Handsfree profiles (just as this is already the case on XP)

This is rather disturbing considering how advanced Widcomm had gotten.. i'm not impressed at all with this new v6 version IF indeed all it is, is just an extension of the windows stack :s

I think it missinterprets the version due to the fact that you're using a CSR based dongle.. Just a guess. Although it shows some weird values for my ANYCOM USB-250 as well :S

Done some more testing and so far this should really be called an ALPHA rather then a BETA :s

So far here are my observations :

1) My HTC TyTn doesn't detect ANY services on my computer. Basically i can't use the computer as a Headset nor as Stereo speakers for it. Something that the 5.1.0.xxxx stack was fully capable of doing.

2) My Microsoft Mouse (out of all things) connects fine but doesn't move. It does not get detected as an aditional mouse no matter when i tried doing. Again, something that worked just fine with the 5.1.0.xxxx stack.

3) My dongle uses the MS .inf files and so far it seems to be improperly detected in the Device Manager with the following 3 unknown devices that i have been unable to find drivers for or to somehow install them manually :

BTH\MS_BTHBRB
BTH\MS_BTHPAN
BTH\MS_RFCOMM

Something tells me this is the main reason why my PDA doesn't see any services available on my PC.

All this on Vista Business x64.

What have you guys noticed ?

Adi

Regarding my Logitech Mobile Traveller Headset, both services (headset and handsfree) are detected but due to errors in device manager, audio is not working as I said a few posts earlier

My Omiz OMM810 Bluetooth Mini Mouse appears to be working flawlessly.

@adisor19 :
try to force the Broadcom/Widcomm driver (using the well-known method: right click in device manager and then point to the correct file). I did it that way and once i switched from the M$ to the Widcomm driver, the three unknown devices got installed (but unfortunately still cannot start : Code 10)

I am using Vista Home Basic 32bit

From my testing v6.0 does not work on top of none Broadcom dongle. It also does not use Widcomm's USB driver, so old method will not work,

My BT device is defintely a CSR (as you can also see from VID/PID) and nevertheless I could force the Widcomm driver using the old method.

As a prove, cf. the screenshot

The USB driver is in USB200_250_BTW_6_0_1_3400_Rel1\Win32\brcm\Bcbtums. inf

It does not work after that, right? I had to uninstall 5.1 that I was using before, installed 6.0 and after that audio headset worked nicely.

Me too i had to uninstall 5.1 since the 6.0 version asked me. However, you can see in my previous post my current situation...
