I just tried to download it and had no problem. Make sure you have any AD blocking software disabled (I use The Proxomitron and it gets in the way).

Security error with CSR device

Hi,

Has anyone figured out the security/pairing issue when csr devices are used. It would be great to use this new driver, but it seems to only work with broadcomm devices.

Cheers

mpho01,

I have a Billionton CSR BlueCore4 based Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR PCMCIA card worked with the Widcomm stack (as I write this). The security / pairing could be some devices reach the limit of the numbers of pairing. My Nokia headset has the same problem when I have paired it with more than 8 different devices. After I reset it, it pairs again with my notebook.

How did you install it ? did you modify the .1700 inf file with the info from your dongle or did you use the .inf file from the previous release 5.1.0.1100 ?

Hi,

Uninstalled old version and installed new version using .1100 inf. Had pairing problem so uninstalled and tried editing the .1700 inf and it still had the same problem. I have both a generic csr dongle and an ISSC dongle.

Cheers

Other than the .1700 inf file having been stripped of everything except the ANYCOM entries, there is no difference between it and the .1100 inf file. If the .1100 inf file has support for your dongle(s), it's all you need.

It appears everyone with CSR based units has the problem. It would seem that WidComm introduced problems into the drivers for these units.

Does your ISSC dongle work? If not, does it use WidComm parts, CSR, or what?

Hi both units use CSR parts. I guess no one has figured out a solution yet for this issue.

Cheers

mpho01,

I see. I have a funny feeling about either ANYCOM has done something special to the build 1700 or Broadcom adds something new that is incompatible with CSR based hardware.

Well, it seems we either wait for the next Widcomm generic build or keep the 1100.

try replacing btwusb.sys with the old version and see if that helps.

I have a feeling you Broadcom might have stopped support for CSR chipsets.. it's only in their best interest

I'll test my CSR based Belkin dongle and will post my results. Still didn't manage to find time for that :s
