Widcomm 5.1.0.2500

As promised, here is the latest update of Widcomm straight from Broadcom's servers.

As usual, it might only work with Broadcom based dongles and even then it's not a sure thing... We definetly need the help of Phantasm and others to properly crack these new releases.. :D

This is just the Win32 relase.

EDIT : here is the download link for the 64 bit release:

5.1.0.2500

I tried 5.1.0.2500 on Vista, it works correctly :) . Earlier stack would not work properly on Vista.

Thx but I really hope someone posts the x64 link as well (if it exists)!

No idea what's new. As mentioned by danab, it seems that Vista compatibility has been thrown in. I guess asking Broadcom might reveal what's new or waiting for ANYCOM's next release. They usually mention what's new.

oh. I think the dongle of broadcomm is good enough, but the document of its driver is so bad...

lidouf, what are you saying exactly ?

From my experience Broadcom dongles with old firmware aka 2.1.39 and lower are quite bad when it comes to Stereo headphones and HID devices.. Even 2.1.128 has some bugs with Stereo headphones.. All this seems to be fixed in 2.1.146 and i have only found 1 dongle with such a high revision firmware : the one included with the Dell wirelless BT keyboard and mouse.. go figure

i'm sorry for my english, i says the related documents of broadcomm drivers(such as the changlog and other docs) should be released with the driver together. the word "specification" i think it should be said "document" or some other exact words?

Oh ok i understand now and i agree with you.. i'm gonna e-mail Broadcom asking them what's new in the latest release.. Hope they answer.

The 32bit version maybe.. i've been playing with the 64bit version and it's a disaster :( The pairing seems to go through but after all the devices do not pair. I keep getting error 0x81000015 whenever i try to connect to any of the "paired" devices..

I am uploading the 64bit version as we speak. I would love to hear from other Vista or XP x64 users how it works out for them.

Oy, the btwusb.inf shows v. 5.1.0.2400 (dated 10/03/2006)! How's this 2500?

Otherwise, do I need to uninstall the old one (i.e. 5.1.0.2300) before installing this one? Or can this just go atop the old one? (Note that, for now, I cannot use the Broadcom updater, for reasons outlined in a different thread.)

Cheers

You wouldn't happen to know whether there's hope for the rest of us (I mean the rest of us with dongles with an older firmware), would you? In other words, will there ever be firmware updates--which, I assume, are issued by Broadcom/Widcomm--for all other Broadcom dongles, or is it that in order to have a seamless A2DP experience (i.e. the so far false/undelivered promisses of most dongle manufacturers out there) we will have to simply purchase a new round of dongles?

You should only buy from manufacturers that regularly update the firmware/software of their dongles.

To date only ANYCOM and laptop manufactureres like IBM have done that. Logitech as well so some extent..
