The same with me. Don´t work with 9v, but works great with 12v 1000mA (estalized source)

It must work with 9v (1000ma as I use) because inside are 3 regulators, one 7805 and 2 LM317, and 9V is more than enough to power it.

Well Davor advised me not to use 9v, because in some cases the 9v wasn't enough.
So now I'm using 12v 700mA.

Before all check parallel cable between box and computer
In setup check mode for LPT
Adapter with 9V work good because matrix have stabilizer inside. I am using this adapter and work good.
Try use knock or any other flasher to test connection.
Finally try switch button DCT4/DCT3, 1 of box I sold have this botton inversed.
