Question Carrying out circuit board repairs on a D500

I am considering changing the 'Bluetooth IC on the circuit board and would apreciate any advice as to which tools are most apropriate for instance 'Soldering Iron' etc. and also what technieques to adopt relating to removal of the faulty IC and the fitting of the replacement.
Any tips will be apreciated,
Dennis

hi man,

you cant use a soldering iron for these jobs! when you open the phone you will see!

you need hot air rework station, something like aoyue brand.

search the forum, you will find recomended tools and also instructions like heat/air flow etc.

please note, this is not really a procedure for novices.

better to practice on scrap bopards for a few weeks first

Thank you for the reply,it rather confirms what I was thinking. I have no Bluetooth ok IR on the phone, what are the chances of my cautiously heating up the IC connections in case there is a poor joint? I obviously don't have a hot air solder station as although I am an electronic engineer I don't specialise in phone repairs other than my own. I would use a needle point low tempreture soldering tool.I had read on a chat room that on these phones pressure on the IC sometimes clears the problem and I have assumed that this disturbs the connections?
