First Flalash the phone with a good flash
if not
write eeprom and IMEI
reset eeprom
If not

Check the contact (antenna-motherboard)

if not
change Switch antenna
if no
change PA
That's All

@btl he means(singapore), a jumper from antenna contact on board to antenna!
meanwhile, this proble often lies in the careless handling of the phone by another technician maybe while trying to change the casing. in 98% of the cases i've solved you'd find a missing component in the network section of the pcb which should be replaced first with the exact component from a scrap board.
if problem persists then, flash eeprom with ust5.6 craked eprom pack for all vlsi model available freely on the net.
100% working for me 100 times and with all vlsi models!

for agere platforms especially A300 and A400, full flash with good firmware (after checking for hardware alterations that is) and please replace copper plate that where originally there in the inner back casing. this too has worked 100 time perfectly.

i hope this has been helpful.

100%

I hav been enjoying such jobs, what i do is this, first read the external antenna jack two points, if not working, use a tiny copper wire to cross it, must not touch the gnd, then check by the three black ics by up left, if no resistor missing by the side, apply sodering paste under the ics terminer and resorder, it must repent.
