Member: 1966999 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | [need help]i9100 s2 Usb flex, tantalum cap popped So i replaced my s2 screen, put everything together and decided to test if it works before screwing the cover together. But sparks came out when putting the baterry in and i saw the tantalum capacitor burning on the usb flex cable. phone wont power on with the usb flex connected !BUT! it does power on when the flex is disconnected from the main pcb, therefore it leads me to believe that replacing the cap would spare me another 3 weeks of waiting for the usb flex... (i already ordered it just in case) So my point is: What are the tantalum cap specs? afaik its 226 (22uf) but its burnt bad and im not sure, so while looking through s2 service manual i saw that it should be 47uf. Or am i wrong?.. Could you guys confirm or deny any of this? i have several other optional questions: Is it safe to run s2 (i9100) with the usb flex DISCONNECTED What is the function of mentioned tantalum capacitor? Is this a common thing? What could have actually caused this? p.s. I seem to be unable to attach an image, so i will describe the capacitor location by word. It is right above the usb jack, you just cant miss it, its a bright orange smd capacitor |
