Samsung i9505 S4 - display distortions

Hi there !

I have bought a water damaged Samsung S4.
The damage was not so big, a good cleaning with isopropyl was enough to make it working again.

The baddest problem was the display.
When the phone resurrected from the Death, the display didn't worked correctly, he had some lines on it, that moves if i swipe fingers on display.
You can see those lines on the attached pictures.

After playing some time with the phone, and restoring a pair of time, turning on and off, and charging.. at some point the lines disappeared and the display worked PERFECTLY for almost 2 months.

I have choosed to sell this phone because i don't needed it.
The customer that bought my phone used it for 1 week, and today...after turning it on... bam !! those damn lines again !!

Someone have a clue of what can be the problem ? I don't want to spend money for a new display, when maybe is not the display the problem, as with me has worked for much time without problems...

Thanks for reading

samsung gt-i9505 display problem
phone contact with water ..... make sure it is not shorting
I agree our friend HUM solution ... if the lcd is still as before:
1. try his resolder display connector
2. check its lcd working voltage at C829 (pin 20) and C1109 (pin
24) if one or both of the broken display certainly problematic
(Or jumper)
3.If this stage it is still as original lcd again .... try rehot
Her fifth lcd emi filter (if broken) switch or jumper as

Thanks for the answers !

First, i didn't tried with another display because i don't own a new display to test.
The problem solved itself the first time, after restoring the phone using volume up+home+power , but maybe it was not a sw problem and i was just lucky.

What i don't understand, if it was a physical damage, why it returned after 2 months by itself...

I am waiting that the customer return the phone to me, so i can do the check of the voltages.

By the way... the distortion appear only when the Samsung logo appear and after.

If i start the phone in download mode, or bootloader/service mode, the display work good without lines..

This make me thinking about a SW problem...

Another info... this is funny...

When i use the front or rear cam, the image become PERFECT, no distortions at all !!
But as i return to home or if i open the images directory, the distortion comes back after 1-2 seconds.

Can be something related to the quality of the image ?? maybe into camera mode the pixel is less

Hi d-Artigo !

Checked voltages. At C829 i have 3.0vdc , but at C1109 no voltage, 0

EMI filter is good , i suspect a problem on U800 at this point...

on his general all phones have 2 pieces working voltage lcd:
1. vaux_lcd = 2.85 ~ 3.0V
2. vio_lcd = 1.8 V
from the above explanation is problematic ... vio_lcd in C1109
try to replace these capacitors with values 1000nF, 10v 20% tolerance
(or jumper from working voltage equal its value)
and I think the U800 is not a problem ....???
