Samsung Turns Off Itself, Shows Bad Battery While Charging

I have a Samsung Galaxy Y. Each time when I connect it to a charger or a computer, it charges for a few second, and then turns itself off, the screen shows a bad battery symbol. But if I take the battery out to charge it using a external charger, it is charged. What will be the problem? Any reply will be appreciated.
