Member: 138792 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | K610i Disassembly Can anyone tell me how to take apart the K610i? I need to replace the LCD. I have removed the two T6 screws from below the battery and most of the front cover pulls away. But it feels like it is held quite firmly at the top - does it just pull away like the K750 or are there more screws up near the aerial on the back? The cover above the aerial is also proving hard to remove. Thanks for a quick response! Jamie |

The aerial cover DOES need to be removed, similarly to older phones like T630, NOT like K750/W800 etc. There are two more T6 screws under here and then the front comes off. To get at the LCD, you must remove the PCB from the chassis and then you need to remove the PCB from another lump of plastic. LCD changing actually takes quite a while even once the phone is open, not like the K750 where it is a 2 minute job! I have photos, if anyone needs them PM me... Cheers. |

Actually my pictures aren't that helpful after looking at them again! Have you removed all 4 T6 screws? If so, you then need to remove the PCB from the chassis. Then you can unplug the keypad and fold it to one side. You then need to split the PCB and big black bit of plastic apart. If I remember correctly, the LCD stays in the bit of plastic - you need to be careful and disconnect the ribbon cable from the PCB. There is a metal plate below the LCD (underneath where the top part of the keypad lay.) You need to remove it, then look at the back of the LCD and undo the tabs that hold it in, it will fall out. There are various bits of springy metal that you will need to swap over too. Hope this helps - if not, get back to me. I'll post this in the thread actually so it helps more people. Maybe you can get better pics than I did? Cheers Jamie | |
