Unhappy Ericsson Cable Interface

Hello there...

I've recently built a new Ericsson Cable interface, cause my old one based on the schematic that can be found at www.mobile.8m.com , got broken. So I designed a new interface based on a MAX202 instead of MAX232 and instead of taking the power from the phone I took it from the COM port (RTS & DTR to a 7805 Voltage regulator, like some Nokia Interface!). But some progs like Ericsson Home Service v1.7 doesn't work anymore it worked perfectly with my old cable, but not anymore. When I run Ericsson Home Service "Erserv32.exe" (with a 628) it says:

Ericsson 6xx or 7xx detected
Enter TEST mode ...
Failed to enter SP mode ...

I don't know why it doesn't work... The cable interface works with "Ericsson 6xx and 7xx Testmode software by Zulea", and Ericsson Unlocking Software 1.3, And Ericsson All Service Software for EMMA.
So the cable ain't dead..

And I've also tried to use the ZOC scripts for 868 to enter TEST MODE, but it doesn't work there either. When I press the "NO" button i see "F" on the screen followed by some crap and then the phone turns ON.
AG: What cable are you using for 8xx?

What could be wrong??
I've tested taking the power from the phone instead of COM1 but it still doesn't work, with some progs. Anyone who knows what causes the problems?

B.R.

Hi,
i had the same problem with GA 628.
New models of GA628 are protected just like
that ... it can't enter in Test mode.
But, i resolved this problem very simply :
Opened the phone, read eeprom, and
used a simple NCK viewer. Then ... just
unlocked the phone by entering code.

regards,
Alex.

Hi

But I could enter TEST MODE with (erserv32.exe) with my old interface. And I can enter TEST MODE, but not with all progs.
So that can't be the problem.

Some of programs U are using use hardware handshaiking (rts/cts activity), and some are not (that's why U don't have power supply in your interface)

Solution 1: Give it external power supply

Solution 2: Use power from the phone (you have pin with +5V if you noticed)

This talking is becaming useless...

Look at it in my way:

A. I don't have EMMA Box.
B. I have Ericsson cable TYPE 4040017
C. All my EMMA software works properly with it!

My solution is this:

Don't waste time to make something what is allready made.

1. Find one ERICSSON Data Cable TYPE 4040017 (Goes in pack SH888+CD+Data cable <- what you need)

2. Open it & make one small short-cut (if you don't know which, don't be afraid to e-mail me)

And that is all.

BTW Use it on fully charged battery!

1. You short pins 7 and 8 on the phone side or more?
2. What is your phone model and what versions of EMMA software you are using?

No,

Short cut 7 and 12 if you want good falshing.
Use 8 for power supply (you don't need 7805 in that case).
