Hello
Check to make sure your power supply to Smart Clip is supplying 12-13 VDC and can source minimum 1 Amp
After correcting your power supply, perform again the prepare cycle.
Goodlucke !

Ok sir at what point do you recieve the message clip communication fail ?.... is it during the prepare cycle or after you have connected smart TP ...or while searching for phone in Smartmoto ?
Also what bootloader is detected when you see the 80 40 ?
Also, you may want to check with a meter to make sure your power adapter is supplying 12V just to confirm ...sometimes they can go bad
thankyou

@ ***********lanz,

Please tell us what is the phone model.
What firmware version it originally had?
Show us log file, that will spread some light at your problem.
Don't forget to hide your serial numbers.

@ ***********lanz,

Clip communication failed error usually appears due to low power supply or not fully charged battery.
Please fully charge the battery, double check your power supply, ensure that is have output 12V 750mA, and after that run unlock procedure once again.
Also, please download and install latest version of the SmartMoto.

Dont use prepare cycle....use the Testpoint to ground procedure.
As a note... I never use the prepare cycle for V3R, V3I, or U6 because sometimes it can not work well for these models.
For all other models the Prepare Cycle works great.
Try reflashing with your last known good file...but you may now have to reflash with a higher version .
After your flashing goes well...use the Testpoint to ground again to unlock.
Goode Luck!

@ ***********lanz,

More likely that your power adapter has output lower then 750mA. That is why "Clip communication error" appears all the time when you try to unlock/flash the phone.
To revive the handset you can try to flash the phone with the *.pcf flash file, firmware version suppose to be the same one or higher, using SCout flasher and S-Card or SCout dongle.

@ burger gsm,

No need to use Smart TestPoint cable for the V3i handset.
