Cool Can SmartClip make minor file changes?

I have a new Smart Clip, and it's all new to me. I have a RAZR V3 that I want to replace the cl.gif file in /a/mobile/system/ folder of the phone. This is the file, I am told, that is displayed when the flip is open on the external screen. Normally it displays the Moto logo, or the carrier's logo. I have a bunch of phones that are displaying a photo of a ******** player instead, and I want to put them back to displaying the Moto logo.
I read on another web site, that to do this, I can use P2KMan, XVI32, and get the cl.gif (Moto version) from the V3 Unbranding pack.
So, my question is, do I have to do it that way with those programs, or is this something that smart clip can do too, just replace/refresh 1 file?
If so, what is the smart clip process to do it?
Whatever I do, I would like to do it the safest way, so as not to screw up the phones.
Thanks, RAZRgirl

Hi
Are all your V3 of the same version ?
If you have first generation V3 R374 and NOT a mix of versions like V3R V3I V3T...then its simple.
Prepare one phone exactly how you want it (pics, music, videos, etc)
Backup this phone with SmartMoto, and when done, give it a name, like (V3 MASTER) or whaterver name that will make it easy to find.
Save this backup to the flash backup folder within SmartMoto.
Now you can reflash all your stock to this same backup you made and all phones will have the exact pics, music and any customizations you made.
Just remember, that after you flash each phone, you must restore its original security area.

If you just wish to reflash and you dont want customizations, then flash with SCout, as it will go MUCH quicker than if you flash with a backup, and there is no need to worry about restoring the security area.

If your V3 stock is all mixed... V3R V3RE V3I etc...then the best advice is to use SCout, and you must download and flash each phone with an equal or higher version flash than it currently has.

Congrats on your new Smart-Clip and good luck!

Thumbs up Success!

Well now I'm cooking with gas !!!

I had 10 RAZR V3 R374_G_0E.42.09R_A GSMV3MYJAKEONA1D0 phones with bootloader 08.26. These were locked to Suncom, and branded with a ******** player's image instead of the Suncom or Motorola logo on the external screen (showing when flip is open).
First I unlocked them with the smart clip. This process downgraded the bootloaders to the 07.E0 as well as unlocked them.
Then with the downgraded bootloader, I was able to use P2Kman program to replace the 1 file, cl.gif with the Motorola logo image named as cl.gif also.
The instructions for this process was found here:
http://motox.info/showpost.php?p=31402&postcount=1
It actually was very simple.

Hope this info can help another newbie

Yes, Afzaal, it was very easy to do with P2Kman. I did a lot of reading today and searching the web. I am very interested in seem editing with the XVI32 program in the future. There was a nice explanation of that on that same web site I mentioned.

I think the biggest problem with someone new is not knowing what is available as tools, and which of those found are good and worth learning to work with.
I have a good technical mind though, so I'm lucky and don't get discouraged when trying to learn new things. But, I do have questions at the beginning, so these forums an invaluable.

Now that this lot of phones is software ready, I need to take time to re-house them for resale. After that, I can spend more time learning more about modding for fun...
