Question Smartclip team: Are you going to drop Clip requirement soon?

After introducing the S-Card, theres shouldn't be a problem moving all security over to the usb-card, and stop requiring the clip.

Very few new PC's have LPT-ports (not only laptops) and it's a joke that you still require us to have a LPT port in order to use your product, now after you have introduced the S-Card.

So can anyone at the SmartClip team tell me whether or not you will drop the Clip requirement soon?

i think they will not because that's what makes it a different product !

Though the idea presented here would prove a brilliant MOVE !

I like the clip, pretty easy to unlock the older models. But if it's cheaper, then I can't complain.

I think James S just wants a "cheaper" solution for motorola, If Smart-Clip remove the need for it then its only $60 for s-card

Maybe smart-clip should drop box only in support downloading requirements and s-card should be enough. in our area internet connection is slow even with dsl connection so i go to mall to get support but setting up box and s-card is a big hassel specially in looking for a powersource for box.

hi

I think moving all security to scard is a must in future,
computers will remove the lpt port soon, true,
from my point of view looks like jaf which moved sec to pkey leaving box
like interface,

about price, we are paying for smartmoto software, real clip/scard hardware is just a small amount

at the end, if smartclip is removed only scard is needed to update,
this means 50% less posibilities to update damage the device and 50% less trafic on gsmserver due to updates,

best regards

Actually LPT is a high speed interface that allows you to transfer data with about 2MB/s. That's enough and even higher than USB 1.1 Still, i haven't see any mainboard without LPT port. They're removing COM ports but LPT is still there...

With SC there is always one problem. Hardware is a clip that can be used to unlock some phones with one button. Leaving the clip would mean loosing possibility to unlock ACER phones

No - i do not want a cheaper solution - i want a solution i can use without LPT, and without needing to worry about keeping TWO devices updated. I already have the clip - but i don't have a LPT in any of my computers.

I suggest that in order to only use the S-card - it must first be activated with a clip.

It would be nice if Smart-clip team could give som input here - cause if it's not going to happen, i'll sell my smartclip and buy a different product.

Maybe you should buy a pci-to-paralel port
