Unlocking RAZR V3 with smartclip (xe mobile)

I just got my Smart Adaptor... I've had my SmartClip for over a year and never successfully unlocked a phone with it. Hopefully now that I can connect to my laptop, I will be able to get some use out of the smart clip. I have about a dozen razrs, all locked to XE mobile. They are the orignal V3. I have no idea what to do to get started... I plugged the usb end of the smart adaptor into my laptop, which is running windows vista basic. A popup appeared which said that I need to get a
driver for this device. I plugged in the razr to the usb port on the laptop and presses the button on top of the smart clip, but nothing seemed to happen.

Also, when unlocking, do i leave a simcard in the phone?

you can post log or phone of boot and firmware version of phone. and do you have s-card?

yes, I have the S-card inserted. The s/w version is DE.41.C3R_B

There is also something that says V3(G8/9/18/19) behind the battery if that is related.

Power on the handset while holding * and # and post back here what the bootloader screen shows you this will make it alot easier for all here to identify what unlock method you will need for your phone. But first of all you will the Smart-Adaptor,S-Card and Smart Clip updated to the latest versions and all installed with correct drivers on your PC.

so not connect your phone to pc usb port connect it to clip usb port
but first do as mbcommunication says to see boot loader version if it is 07E0 or 0823 no computer is needed to unlock the phone
if BL is 0826 you need to connect to your computer and make remove rsa procedure then unlock with the clip if it is 0828 0827 0829 you need to do prepare phone cycle if you have v3r youll need testpoint if bootloader is 0A52 or prepare cycle if it is 0A.30 or 0A.42
if you have V3re youll need smart testpoint adapter
