Hi. I'm amazed. Nec phones can be unlocked for free from long time ago and People still asking always the same questions.

" How to unlock my nec XXX ? " "Where to get nexus?" "Which cable I need for unlocking?"

For 338 v04: Unlock your nec 338 here for free.

For 338 v03: Directly use Nexus with serial cable. http://www.megaupload.com/it/?d=07FP11IF

For 228 313 and 616: You can use Nexus with COM rs232 cable or Nec Code reader with modded usb cable ( You can modify your original USB cable, yes, the one that come with the phone )

Nec Code Reader with USB Drivers

For nec 616v with sw24 and above: Use Nexus with Rs232 cable

To check SW Version on nec 228 313 616 616v: *#06# ( Under the imei )

To check SW Version on nec 338: *#2820#

Scheme for USB cable ( You can modify your original data cable )

You can post any manuals but some users havo no enougth IQ level to solder 1k resistor in cable ;-)

Thanks Bypx for talking about this point but you have to put in mind you are in Europe and some countries NEC E338 It's a new technology for them

You can't, you need rs232 cable.

I live in Canada (toronto ),I bought a NEC e616v unlocked from UK ,but I have no reception even when I dial 911 the phone is unable to conect to any network. Could it be that the phone Doesnt work in Canada however maybe there is something else I should be doing to the phone or the my sim card ??(I know the phone works fine)

Hi, the 616v don't have the PCS 1900mhz band. So you can't use it in the Usa and Canada. Br

I read on some site that this guy ( lives in Canada) had same problem and posted that he apparently got the phone working by master reseting the phone using some software (NEC) and a cable. I like to give that a shot but i dont know how to reset the phone nor where to get that NEC software.
BTW the code *73738# doesnt work on my phone.
