SPECIAL NOTE1:
If you are using windows 10 x64 be sure that the installed mtk driver version is 3.0.1504 . Any different drivers will create random read bugs on newer chipset phones.
As usual the correct drivers come inside OTSMart archive inside the 'usb_driver' folder

So i suggest installing DriverInstall.exe from usb_driver folder, reboot pc and repeat

I've done that in the first place after seeing changelog. I used DriverInstall.exe from usb_driver directory. I noticed that it wiped the old driver and installed new one, then i rebooted and i see that it's being used. Also, my problem seems to be at last stage, when phone is already in fastboot mode.

then check if the fastboot drivers are installed also. Also avoid saving file to strange folders such as "_FLASHe". Try to use only characters in the name

Tried again yesterday, saved backup in F:\ directly but it's still the same. Phone is detected in fastboot mode and that's where the fun ends. I have to reflash the phone to make it boot into Android again. I'm using this fw from support: Amman-L29 9.0.1.121(C431E4R1P4)_Firmware_9.0.0_r3_EMUI9.0.1_ 05015TYU.osp each time.

Just one thing. Are you sure you are not mixing the models ? Because Honor 8S and Y5 2019 look pretty much the same

I has Huawei logo on the front glass. I see HL1AMNM VN1 on the board, testpoint and firmware matches.

Based on IMEI (imei.info) it should be: Y5 (2019) (AMN-LX9).

I'll have to check this again because it could be fastboot drivers issue. I noticed that i was unable to flash Huawei with DC-Phoenix recently (couldn't read info) and after i reinstalled Huawei fastboot drivers again it started to work.

Any chance to repair IMEI permanently on this model yet?

faulty drivers could cause that error as well . SO check carefully. As i answered before so far the answer is no to your other question

Could this be an issue?

Is because the fastboot got locked with new shipments. I can add an alternative way for this.

Except that i already flashed it with file from support. Otherwise phone won't even boot into Android after a failed attempt. I re-checked the drivers and reinstalled the one that comes with Furious and it's still the same for me:

Quote:
Done; Fastboot mode entered;
Connecting;
switching_fastboot_mode: OK;
resistance is futile : OK !?;

IMEI repair FAILED; Reflash the phone with the firmware from the support and retry;
That's where it ends for me. I don't see any other flash file on support area, not sure what else i can check for the moment.
