Problem updating Brown W800i

Hello,

I would like to update my phone, a SE W800i, from firmware R1K001 to R1NA005 using TMS. This looks like it should be straightforward as there is a folder with R1NA005 in the download area that says it is Brown and CID36. After downloading and selecting this firmware, TMS says that it is CID16. Same thing with the corresponding language pack. When I try and flash it errors out as well.

Is there really updated firmware for brown CID36 phones? I would like to use the credit purchased.

Thanks,
David

The best choice to by one Total Multiserver cable and with that you've no restrictions regarding flash colors on Cid36 and older phones.

Thanks for the reply Casinoman.

Appears that purchasing a cable might be my only choice as I have not been able to get a response from the Multiserve people. Not really happy about spending money for an advertised product only to have to purchase more. Should have gone the Davinci route, they were at least straightforward in saying that they did not have brown firmware available. And they seem to respond to questions.

This phone makes me a little grouchy too as I got it with the purchase of an O2 contract through Phones4u, a retail outlet. I would have thought that it would be a retail "red" phone in the first place. Where are others getting "brown" phones from? Are these equivalent to a grey market product? And most importantly I suppose, are there any other differences between the retail and developer phones?

Difference is just the certificate color, in funcionality no differences between red and brown color firmwares.

very strange indeed that the software would think W800i firmware is CID16

who did you buy the credits from? you should contact them DIRECTLY not reportfiles or anyone else this way you get the fastest response

Also no server can beat TMS for supported models and the amount of releases made

The place I bought the credits from was totalserver.net and I did attempt to contact them twice before resorting to posts on this forum. EDIT - appears that there must have been a problem with my emails to the service. I have deleted my "bad *****" comments as they appear to have been inappropriate.

On the bright side, I have a cruiser cable on the way to get the job done. Regardless the TMS client software definitely reports the files listed as CID16 and will not flash to a brown phone. Frustrating since the downloads area clearly shows them as brown / cid36 files.

I actually sent the original emails to [email protected] before trying the other address. I tried the "reportfiles" address you have listed hoping that it might be you too. I was frustrated and truly trying to get through DIRECTLY. I then proceeded to forward you the wrong email last night and can see I now look very ignorant.

I was on vacation in Germany and using my laptop at the time I sent those emails and assume from what you are telling me that something went wrong between the hotel I was staying at and my email provider. Strange, as other personal emails that I sent during this period did get through. I did not get any rejection emails either and had no reason to believe my email did not reach you. Regardless, I trust what you are telling me is true and regret that I did not try to email you again from home before responding to your post last night. Most of all I appreciate that you are looking into my issue - thank you.

Bad *****ing aside, there does seems to be an issue with the TMS files listed as W800i, R1NA005, Brown, CID36. When loaded into the client software for flashing, the client returns the files as CID16. Hoping you can advise me on how to proceed.
