R2F on a k608i - GSM-Forum

My phone has been rock solid since flashing with version R2F. Most others have had success with R2J on the k608i.

Can users report back with sucess they have had with R2J and what type of SIM card, operator and country. I'm on "3" in the UK.

Also is there any changelog for the versions?

Saty, I'm about to upgrade my K608i soon with R2J; I just want to know which language file should I select R2J005_US1 or R2J005_US2 ? I'm in USA with T-Mobile. most probably with 32K SIM card...

I am not sure about 32k and R2J but wish u luck. Murphy was saying the problems we had may be due to the sim card not being the latest in technology, or perhaps the phones.

My phone's been good as well after flashing with R2F015. I can log into 3 services and do the normal stuffs except the strange part is that once I get into the 3 homepage, I can only select items that are underlined (i.e. with a link). There are a bunch of items on the 3 homepage (Australia) like home, music, tones. I can select them but I can't see what am I selecting, meaning, I don't see the select box. If you get what I mean... hehhee

hmmm...well, this phone and the services it can provide are kind of new yet and could be little buggy on sonyericsson or 3G provider's part...it will take some time to get things straightened out...3G does not even exist in US and not expected for next few years either, as we are 3 or 4 years behind you...

By the time you guys get it, it will be full 4g or even better.
3g here is not cheap anyway. Mobile internet costs a bomb ...
Internet is charged by downloads (no unlimited d/ls) usual max speed is 1.5mbit... sighz
anyway... let's give Saty back his thread... Don't want to hijack his original track. I am also interested to see what is the difference between R2J and R2F015

Hi,

Both the US1 and US2 packs have English in them as far as i'm aware. Please post your experiences with R2J on here. I'm sticking with R2F for now, as stability is more important to me than features, which is why I was seeing if anyone new the changes from R2F to R2J.

Is R2J is not successful then R2F should work fine, as most people have reported success with this.

Thanks Saty and mshake for tha info, and yeah, I'll let you guys know once I flash with R2J and see how it works...both firmware and language files are about 18 MB and my high speed internet is down until Friday and I hate to download such big files on dial-up connection...by the way, does R2F invoke the phone from sleep mode when you move the joystick? I know R2L002 (origional firmware) does not.

Sorry to inform you that with R2F the phone does not wake up from sleep mode. I hope this is sorted out in future firmware releases, as it really annoys me!

yeah, it is annoying, because joystick is the first thing I touch to wake it up and it does not, so I have to press the "C" or "<--" key...that's too much work, man!

during flashing K608i with R2J005 with Zone1 firmware and US2 language files, it stopped at initializing file system with Error code 0x003242 and now this K608i has become K600i and IT IS NOT RIGHT AND I AM VERY UPSET...I could not even send that huge 41MB ATS file to reportfiles@gmail.com...the browser times out before it can finish uploading

I have flashed several K608i to remove all the annoying "3" icons and setup, and it works perfectly. As far as I know K608i is just a "special" 3-branded version of K600i, so debranding it will turn it into K600i.
You have not lost the log, so just reflash it using a fullpowered battery.

Concerning the 41Mb file you could maybe compress it and not send it as fullsize bitmap...

you mean even if I did not get the error it would still be K600i, and since I did get the error so supposedly it did not flashed it right, so do it again; but it was showing credit was deducted...so what is the deal?

Yes, all my K608i have been converted to K600i after debranding/flashing. If phone works ok and doesn't say anything like "Contact service", then everything is as would be expected. (cant explain the error...)

If is doesn't power on normally and credit was deducted, you have to send ATS to get a refund, just compress it using ZIP or RAR.

well, no one else shared that (debranding k608i to k600i) with us here before, not even TMS and honestly, I would have gotten the K600i in the first place if this is really the case...which, I think, is not...by the way, do your phones happen to have any problem with earphone, sometimes I can't hear the caller/reciever when I make or recieve calls and sometimes the sound (volume) goes really low even it is on high volume...and it is really annoying...it's almost like not having the phone...
