z520i firmware flash: Configuration error I succesfully unlocked my pay as you go (from 02) z520i but it all went t!ts up when i tried to flash the firmware. Ive flashed other S/E handsets using this software with no problem before however this time, the software got to the 'GDFS' part of the process and then cut out. There was no error number, just a message telling me to email the JPG and ATS file to the given email address. Ive done this of course, but was wondering if anyone on here had any tips they could give! PS: the ATS file was in excess of 40mb, is this right? Now when i start the phone without a SIM i get the 'Insert Sim message' however on placing a SIM into the phone i get the configuration errror message!

this means that your flash is incomplete (obviously) you'll have to contract your reseller and send them the screenshot (since ur ats file is 40MB, not very realistic to email it) most of us are good about refunding credits in this case (if you have a screenshot) then we can email murphy and get the credit back that we gave you as a replacement. just make sure your battery is fully charged. You'll need to use another phone or a desktop charger to charge the phone now since it's firmware is incomplete it wont take a charge. remove the battery and replace it before you start another operation, all should go well good luck! --Corey

Hello, thanks for your response. I never actually lost the credit, when the flash process failed i checked my account and the credit was still there. Should i just try flashing again (with a full charge) or is there something else that could be wrong?

just try again. Yes make sure that battery is FULLY charged, this is very important especially for flashing. 'm glad to hear your credit was not used. that's always annoying when the credit is used and the flash is incomplete. Sincerely, --Corey

Hmmm, well i borrowed a z520i from a friend and a friend and chaged the battery this weekend however after attempting the flash the firmware again i'm still in the same position!! Would making a backup of the 'GDFS' from another z520 and then restoring it to my handset make any differenece?

Well thanks for you help casinoman, i've sorted this problem out now by trying the process with the newer 'RED' firmware and language files in the 1.98 software. I had to perform a 'Repair/Recover Eprom' before it would accept the new language file. Handset seems to be working great now.
