Member: 2110016 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 4 | jusmejose, I've read a lot of your posts on this and other forums and I admire your altruism... but could you please give some more details about why you won't say how to write it; is it an exploit of android's handling of the nvdata partition? If so that would be quite a find, and I would understand why nobody would be willing to share that. I feel like Alice in Wonderland after everything I've read on this topic, from QC chips in Blackberrys years ago, to the modern method mostly used for changing CDMA networks. To anyone interested, here are some tidbits of what I've stumbled upon: pastebin.com/jewTddnc There is countless more info that I've read, but those were the most on point I would say... good luck going down that rabbit hole, or black hole I should say, as it's fun to learn about, but your time will get sucked in. P.S. I'm "researching" this for an n900a which the bootloader is locked on. It makes experimenting with the AT commands a tiny bit more difficult... I hope that either Knox is exploited, or that Samsung is so proud of Knox that they throw consumers a bone by undermining AT&T and releasing the key... both of which are unlikely anytime soon. P.S.S. I very much respect the NSPRO team, so if there is anything in this post that is not acceptable, please snip it out. |

Member: 84323 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 15 | Playing with the NV gave me some insight. We can easily change the IMEI bit on the N900x series... but since some of the NV bits are protected we cannot write the IMEI entirely. The N900x series performs some type of verification or check and compares IMEI, if there is a mismatch, the IMEI CERT Fails thus you cannot connect onto the network although the IMEI has been "repaired". Key in my opinion is to bypass the protected NV items and pretty much "copy and paste" a "good" nv onto the device. This "MAY" be done via Jtag. |
