i have here bird s788 always restart then off when sim card inserted. without sim, phone powers ON and i can even make an emrgency call.

tried flashing it with different flash images and loading FFS (Flash it to repair "freez", "restart" problem) still no luck. i dont think its an hardware failure because phone works without sim card inserted.

Hi,
Do you have other operator sim-card ? Try with other SIM, it can be problems f.e. with STK
