CM2 MemoryTool : Full Control in your hands ( info & manual )

According users request we introduce new useful stuff for CM2 modules : MemoryTool.

At now it available in QLM module ( rest modules on way )

  • Abilities :
Read/Write/Erase/Verify custom regions of memory.
SW support binary files, raw(original) firmware parts flashing, including sparse and e.t.c.

  • How :
Connect phone, init MemTool and do all, what you need. When work done - finish session.
  • Why it need?
i.e. flash only system, modified boot, flash files from update.zip, work with different regions, forensic purposes , repair purposes, testing purposes and etc.

You NOT depend on need xml files and etc. Just do what you need here and now!

Manual :

After init MemTool and success connection you will see internal device structure.

You can check every element manually ( i.e. empty or not, filesystem state for forensic and etc. )

Main Workplace overview :

There is few fields for every part :
  • TYPE
BINARY - means some binary data present.
FILESYSTEM - means there is some of standard filesystems data present
NONE - empty partition
  • STATE
EMPTY - means there is no any data, partition empty
DATA - means partition NOT empty
  • WRITE PATH
Double press on WR FILE field to open FileOpen dialog.

You can press "Cancel" to make field empty.
If field is NOT set - partition will be ignored, if it selected for WRITE operation.

  • READ PATH
Double press on RD FILE field to open FileSave dialog.

You can press "Cancel" to make field empty.
If field is NOT set - partition will be ignored, if it selected for READ operation.

Operations overwiev :

1. Read Selected
Read
selected partitions from device ( if RD FILE is set )

2. Write Selected

Write
selected partitions to device ( if WR FILE is set )

AT EVERY operation SW will ask about accept operation!

3. Set WorkPath

Set
path for READ operations ( instead default one )

Useful for make full RAW copy or etc.

4. Memory Test
Make FAST memory test ( Memory ReadOnly Test )
Test is completely safe, and not depend on selected partitions to avoid any users mistakes.

5.Init MemTool / Close Session
Start / Close
MemoryTool session. On close session device will be rebooted to charge/normal mode.

6. Main workplace window
Here user can select need partitions for desired operations,, verify their state, set path for read and write data.
MULTIPLE partitions selection possible with CTRL ( ony-by-one ) and SHIFT ( ROW between START SELECTION and END SELECTION ) keys holding on keyboard.

The most important thing is to see, how people will adopt this new stuff with ease.

These operations are going to be very useful only if one can be familiar with it.

Oh, that's nice, looks great and usefull for forensics and data recovery. With this, there's no more need for rawprogram.xml creator since it's possible to just pick and write partition images manually as well, should be easier to work with LG based phones. Something i've been waiting for, good job.

We're limited to your loaders, right, as long as they support the phone, we're able to access the device? Any chance to maybe add ability to use own loader, just in case if there're a "custom" shipped with firmware or someone wants to try experimenting? Also, i have to ask if there's any chance to support Samsung, SONY, HTC phones with that, at least for data reading, maybe in the future?

No, not limited.
Enough to make dummy rawprogram.xml, with 1 line and put in it folder nedd firehose_loader. Select in flash tab. SW will use it by default. Or use ready/similar/"only for own use and not for share" fw.
Just select it in flash tab.

Can add separate "use own FH" button as well. But not think about more entropy will be good

We add new model lines and types in every update. Who knows.
