hello all. i keep getting a message saying dongle not found.. how do i fix this problem. it just started doing it today an i dont know what i did ! please help

I have done that already.. it use to work before it just got up one day an stopped working.. any other thing that i could try ?

Try to open dongle and check sim-card holder contacts (holder to SIM and holder to PCB)

Now all it does is restart my computer when i plug in the USB cable.. an tryed it on a next computer an i am getting some smartcard API error..

1. uninstall everything
2. install it aain according to instruction from support area
3. give me more info about your PC that restart (hw, os)
4. give me more info about your PC that can detect dongle (hw, os)
5. give me more info about API errors on other PC

I did it on a next computer according to the instructions from support area an it still dont work. when i plug the box in an it is installing the drivers it windows cant find them an when i choose the egate folder it still dont find them an when i use the cable folder it finds some serial drivers an but not the 3 that the instruction said that it should find...

about the PC that restarts now: it is a P4 3.8, 1024MB memory, running windows XP PRO.. i did not try it on that computer anymore.

for the PC that detect the box: it is a P4 2.8, 512MB memory, also running windows XP PRO.

I dont know what to do next..

Our box contain 2 usb devices inside: usb-ftdi converter (cable device) and smart-card device.
it looks like that when you connect box to PC you need to install cable drivers first and then install smart-card drivers.

also you can try to make this:
disconnect box from PC
go to folder with cable drivers and run Setup.exe
go to folder with dongle drivers and run Setup.exe
connect box to PC and tell me what's hapen.

I will try that, but it use to work before.. I am not detecting the smart-card device at all. but i will try what you say an tell you what happen..

That still dont work.. let me tell you the exact message that i get :

"error when establishing context !
SmartCard API error #2148532253
the Smart Card resource manager is not running."

that is the message that i get. I dont know what to do now..

An a next thing their is no lights on the front of the box, just the lights on the top, does that mean anything ? please help i have alot of phones to do an customers are getting upset..

Please, make this:
open the box.
you will see SIM-card inside. open sim-card holder, check sim card holder contacts (to be sure that holder to card contacts is good).
now connect box to PC and see on small LCD inside box (near smart-card holder). Do you see it blinking when you connect box to PC ?

also check this link and tell me ingo about devices in your PC Device Manager.

pls try to use another smartcard reader hardware ( u can use schlumberg reader standalone ).... this is a common problem with smartcard reader hardware inside of red unibox
