w220 strange way of unlocking.

today a custmer bring motorolla w220,fone is from portugall first i try to unlock with smart clip fone got botted but it said internal problem, i tried with new version of infinity and it said booth failed. then i try it with my laptop i had old version of infinity v 1.37 i try first it said same thing boot faild but it gave me option of prepare the fone which wasnt avilable in new version i prepred the fone and the unlocked sp and surprisley fone got unlocked. my main point of this thread is why this fone didnt unlocked with new version.is it any bug or some thing else.
