N73 network issue

Does anyone know of a way to "force" my N73 to ONLY use a specific network? I would like it to stay on "3" rather than keep trying to revert back to "3G" as i live in a weak signal area. I have had the same problem with all 3G phones i have had, the constant swopping to the "better" network with terrible signal strength and then having to swop back to "non-3G" whenever i want to make or receive a call to avoid getting cut off mid chat.

That works, but only temporarily. As soon as the phone decides it can recieve "3G" signal, it reconnects to it again
