Summary unlocking options N95 (and other BB5)

Hey,

after spending several hours googling for N95 unlock in various languages, reading forums and sites, I can feel confident in stating that it's one confusing business! Particularly since various sites and 'solutions' are well outdated...

Perhaps somebody who is well versed and up-2-date in the matter could dedicate a couple of minutes to write a short summary of the currently available means of unlocking a N95 (or other BB5 phone)?

I'm sure that many would be very very grateful, and it would make one heck of a sticky -> eternal fame!


The reason I started searching: bought a 2nd hand N95 with a cracked display, which I plan to fix myself, no biggy. However, it turns out the unit is locked to Telia (Swedish operator) and they won't unlock until the original contract has gone 12 months (it's currently at 6 or 7).

The options I've found so far:

1) Send it in somewhere (there are some options here in Sweden) - costs between 20-40 euros
2) Buy a box of some kind (e.g. NANO or something, from Teamfurious or so) - cost 20 euros for lite (N95 only) or 50 euros for upgradeable version
3) get scammed on eBay
4) Use some program people seem to be using here? (but which I as of yet am unsure what program is used? But I've seen a lot of 'logs' showing unlocking attempts or so?)


As said, if somebody could please be so kind to make such a list, approximate prices and -most importantly- the parts needed, that would shed a lot of light on things!



The method being used here seems to be by means of USB cable, yet not the one standard supplied? And then some program (link?).


Probably nothing new in this post, but I'm fairly sure massive amounts of ppl find there way in here googling, and would greatly profit from a sticky containing the options and ways to go.

unfortunately for you, an n95 is not unlockable using the free software, so you either need to purchase an n95 unlocking clip (hammer was/is a name of one I believe) or either of the two you mention.

you might be lucky and find a forumite willing to do it for beer money or at least less than the prices you quote, an n95 is relatively simple to disassemble and unlock ...

as i read you want to unlock your n95 and another bb5...
first thing you should do reading before posting ..
because if i do search with ""n95 unlock"" i get 100 of results..

anyway you are new to this forum and new to unlocking..
i like to tell u there is many way to do sp unlock bb5 now this days...

1 dejan copy right method.
a = use test point and send code test code via fbus and let phone rebuild sp lock so you get clean unlocked phone.
b = this method used in all existing bb5 unlocking box's. you use any all are same.
c = again dejan prove getting magic byte and calculating correct sp unlock code but that's not all after that making phone to accept level+7 codes at phone is simply amazing..

2 code from provider
a = this is for users who need to get there unlock code from provider and enter to phone.
b = this need to have keypad enter unlock code counter or fbus enter unlock code counter to send correct code to phone.
c = this code come only from provider if your provider able to give code for your phone.

3 direct bb5 Unlock Via Only Fbus NO TP UNLOCK
a = this is only service.you can NOT buy box or do your own you have to send phone team who doing it.
b = if your phone counter keypad counter or fbus counter is blocked no worry for its can still make unlock.
c = this will rebuild sp area so its permanent unlock without problem you can update firmware downgrade it anything you can do it.it is NOT patched unlock.
d = with patched sim lock base rpl with original sim lock key.

4 turbo or xyx sim base unlock.
a = this is slim plat sim which we have to stick with sim card and use it so its bypass lock but phone originally LOCKED..
b = some turbo or xyz sim have advantage to work in sp area damaged phone.
c = turbo or xyz sim we don't have to worry about keypad counter or fbus counter because its just bypass lock not unlock phone..
d = turbo or xyz sim are cheap but temp solution when ever Nokia made new firmware its been stoped working..

so this is sort summery of unlocking bb5 there will be many more way but this is easiest and knowed to public.
