T28W Dead - Please help !!! - GSM-Forum

Hello all. I am asking for some help. I have a T28W from Voicestream. I tried to unlock it and of course it went into TAMPERED mode (all locks engaged, 0 count). I thought maybe flasing it over with another BIN ... screwed it up even more ... plus it's all in Arabic language now (clueless). I need :

- pair of good eeprom and flash files (latest update if possible)
- help on how to get rid of the Incorrect SIM message and unlock the phone so I can take it with me on my trip.

- please ANYONE help ... Much appreciated.

I'll send you a good EEprom and flash for the T28s tonight when I return from work, in around hmm 11 hours.

Flash and EEprom from T28s should work on the T28W too

Thank you. I appreciate it. One questions though ... will it reset my unlock counters ? All my counters are at zero right now. Are your files unlocked ? Will it give me a problem using it overseas since it is from a T28s ? Drop me a quick note when you get home. Thanks again.

Check mail, flasher and flash+eeprom sent.

Wont give you any probelms overseas, and it's a unlocked pair of flash and eeprom from my private T28s in my mobile phone collection.

Thank you very much. The Flash and the EEPROM fixed one of my problems. BTW, I was unable to flash them with the utility you gave me. I had to use another piece of software (worked perfect). However, it still tells me Incorrect SIM message. I tried a dozen Unlocking SW packages and still nothing. I can't even see the NSCK counters anymore. I used to be able to do <**< (I think) and get to the Service Menu where I saw that all the couters were at 0. I also tried to run the TamperClear utility ... nothing. When I use any of the ATR 4.x or 5.x (5.0, 5.2, 5.3) and choose Unlock it says T28 detected, Application Sent OK and them either :EEPROM could not be read or ERROR 05 (with and without the SIM card in the phone). Any ideas ? Let me know.

When I tried you utility, I was able to update the EEPROM but not the Flash. It gave me an error Unable to GetInfo from phone. An earlier version of the same utility told me that Unable to Update a Phone that has been Attacked ????? Weird messages.

I was able to do a *#06# and check the IMEI which seems to be different than the one written on the original box. Could it have changed ? I tried to use ATR 5.x to change it back to the correct one and NO DICE ... It gets to 99% and locks up with an error message. Is there another way ?

I cannot change the IMEI on my phone no matter what I try. I uploaded the EEPROM and try to change it using all ATR versions out there. No go. It says Application uploaded OK and gives me Error 05 or Unable to read EEPROM. Also, every time I use ATR and initiate a function it asks you to Press NO for a short time. No matter how fast or how slow I press No, my phone always turns on before the progress bar has finished. Is that normal ? What is the correct procedure of using ATR for a typical function ? Another question ... are you supposed to program the phone with or without the SIM card inserted. I tried both ways and no go.

Sometimes it gets confusing ... different software packages act different ways. Some like it where you click GO and then remove the battery and reconnect it, some just work the normal way.

Anyone on this subject ? Please reply. ThanX.

Problem is PC based. I have Windows XP and cannot use any ATR programs. So, fine ... I ran Windows 98 in emulation mode with Virtual PC and got it working but not fully. I switched to a junky old Win98 box that I have (166 Mhz PC) and everything works like a charm.

I was able to upload EEprom and Flash files to my T28 (the incorrect ones from a T28S) and I was able to Unlock the phone.

However, when I tried to restore my IMEI to my original it crashed at 99% done with an ERROR01. It says IMEI changed successfully ... please reinstall the flash ... when did it, crashed.

If I reapply right away the flash file with another software, the IMEI gets changed right.

HOWEVER ... since I do not use 900 Mhz GSM my T28 World converted to a T28 S is of no use to me. I still need a good set of flash and eeprom files from a T28 World. Please help.

hi , use ne tool 120 to flash phone, u wont get any error ,unlock with atr5 .100% tested.
