K790 is a DB2020 model. So you can't lock/unlock, change IMEI, and save/restore GDFS image. You can only use flashing, and GDFS maintenance, and you always have to use smartcard.

That is just a urban legend. Emma 3 is the support tool used by sonyericsson servicecenter to upgrade and repaire software and it cant unlock anything cos a servicecenter are not promited to unlock cellphones. They can only repair them. Only the provider have the code to unlock. But they can on the other hand not unbrand them.....

Member: 23695 Status: Offline Sonork: 100.64383 Thanks Meter: 12 | Just for your inform:for unlock you need 1. EMMA III GSP login 2.CSCA SmartCard 3.SE dongle about from dongle see the attachted image about from emma: EMMA = Service software/solution by SE themselves. Protected by the EMMA smartcard to prevent non-licensed usage. Current version is EMMA3, though EMMA2 is still alive (but kinda useless on newer phones). The EMMA smartcard contains an algorithm that allows EMMA to communicate directly to/with the phones CID, so performing operations the way they were intended. The smartcard and its algorithm has not been cracked. Current EMMA access levels exists:Service Update - Can't unlock phones.Service Update Pro - Can't unlock phones.Network Operator - Can't unlock phones (but sure as hell can lock them ).Service Center Std - Can't unlock phones.Service Center Rc - Can unlock phones, as they have a special version of the smartcard with a CSCA key.Research & Development - Can unlock phones, as they have a special version of the smartcard with a CSCA key. about from db2020 etc: DB2000, DB2010, DB2020 = SEMC (Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications) hardware platforms. It's something similar to chipset in PC.DB2000 (another name is Marita) is a GSM+3G(UMTS) capable platform, SE K600/K608/V600/Z800/W900, Sharp 802sh, 902sh, 903sh and LG 3G phones are based on it.DB2010/2012 (Marita compact) is GSM-only, non-3G, platform. Most not very old and modern SE phones like K300,K500,K700,K750,S700,W300,W550,W800,Z520,Z530 are based on this chipset.DB2020 is the newest product of SEMC. K800, K790, K610, Z710 etc, Sharp 904sh feature this most secure (from SE's point of view) platform. DB2020 stands for Digital Baseband 2020. It's the next generation baseband "processor" from SE. It incorporates new security measures, so the old method of breaking into DB2000/DB2010/DB2012 (it's predecessors) is useless against it. Now, later SE security is/was actually very strong and therefore hard to break. It's RSA-based, meaning that it's based on public and private certificates and keys. These two are calculated based on huge prime numbers that cannot be "reversed", meaning that there is no way to calculate the private key based on the public key nor vice versa. Anything encrypted with the public key can be decrypted using the private key. The two "peers" share their public keys allowing them to decrypt eachothers "messages". For more information on RSA, please consult "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rsa". As far as I've gathered, the "loaders" (programs) used by SE to communicate with phones either on the production line or at service centers are "signed" using a similar system (again, consult Wikipedia). An initial communication channel has to be set up, then a loader must be sent to the phone. It is through this loader that operations take place. E.g. if you want to flash a phone, you send a loader to it, this loader then listens for a flashfile to be transmitted and writes it to the memory. Previous ways of breaking into SE phones were based on vulnerabilities in these loaders, somehow allowing developers to make them perform their own operations instead of their original intention. Unlocking for instance, requires a hard-to-get access level and smartcard (holding the CSCA key, allowing a new security zone to be written and signed) for SE's own service solution, called EMMA (now counting version 3/III). Cloning this smartcard or getting the CSCA key out of it has yet to be done, if it is at all possible, the key never leaves the smartcard, calculations are made by the card itself (smartcards are very advanced, some hold 200Mhz processors, for example your average satellite-TV card). The card also holds the algorithm/mechanism for challenge/response authentication with the phone. DB2020 is completely rewritten from scratch, I gather. They have been thinking "security" all the way through it's development as opposed to the apparent make-shift solutions found in earlier versions. This calls for new tactics by "SE-tool" developers. br |

Member: 9290 Status: Offline Sonork: 100.57287 Thanks Meter: 35 | SEMC DB2020 is very secure platform: using of RSA, SC, SEMC Server... till today similar (paranoid protection ?!?) is not known on GSM world. Its evidence that SEMC are invest much money to educated people with good experience (some Hacker also) to build good protection. Our congratulation. But, SEMC are give unlock possibility, shaaker wrote what all is needed to unlock SEMC DB2020 phones. BUT (again) its evidence that one bug is not solved - distribution of dongles thanks for that move. |
