Question about unlocking DB2020 with old firmware

Is there any risk trying to unlock a DB2020 phone with old firmware? Or will it always give error BEFORE anything is done to the phone, and credits deducted?

If it has old firmware - how should i upgrade it? Using SEUS? Or do i need to spend more credits in UB to flash it first?

I have just had the same issue with a K610i UB ran 50% stopped saying software upgrade needed, after upgrade rerun unlock and was given option to skip part of unlock allready done, only took abot 20mis extra and cost 6 credits more than normal, so all in all a good system

i kinda agree with that. it totalled to 106 credits ugrading it first then finally unlock it. well, still better than 150 credits initially released.

Its a bad design and cheap cheating for having to loose logs / credits because firmware is old. there should have been a better way to handle this withing the unlocking process to take care of such drain pipe (fleecing method).

I have lost logs during the first READING INFO saga, and then this one again, is not too good.

I hope the UB team will look into this and make amends where necessary and refund lost credit due to such

I dont understand, why you lose credits? Check the firmware first, flash the phone with the latest firmware, if needed. This will take 3 credit from you independently. Now you can start to unlock your phone for 100crd. I think that is not their problem, if you have old firmware on your phone.

Since DC2020 unlocking is quite new we are looking for ways to improve it. As we did already by offering to skip the first part if it is already done. Unlocking DC2020 can be 100 credits for those who has firmware >= R1ED001 but can be 103 to those who doesn't have recent firmware version. But firmware upgrade is an independent thing and it did exist before DB2020 unlock. We are not cheating customers with any credits by any way. This firmware thing is not depends on us. Older firmwares simply does not supports CSCA activation and needs to be upgraded.

But is it possible to upgrade the phone with SEUS instead? It's fast, free, and no data is deleted.

Yes, as I said earlier it is an independent thing.

I dont see the probleme here, we are only talking about 6 credits, thats about the same cost as a bottle of coke. So worst case is i make £1.50 less on an unlock for maybe 1 in 5, big deal.

At the end of the day I am offering a service to my customers at a good price, and they are happy with the results. and for the few who say they do this for a hobby, live with it or get a cheaper hobby!

Yes, 6 credits is cheap, but my consern was deleting the customers data when flashing. Most of my customers think it's very important that nothing is deleted.
