Unhappy Our old friend the N70 - flashing problem

I've just spent a while trying to get an N70 upgraded and debranded with the 5.06.09.2.0.1 firmware. Needless to say, it won't finish flashing.

Process Failed, Repowering Mobile

So far I've tried 5 and 7 pin cables, with and without Vpp adaptor, the only one that gets me anywhere is 5 pin cable without Vpp.

The AMD No Name worries me somewhat. At least the N70 still boots, but has the old firmware and the custom operator screen still.

So, anyone have any gems of advice for me then?

This is definitely an RM-84, I suspect we need updated FIAs for this hardware, but so far I have not found out the detail.

Wonder if Odia can shed any light?

I had some problem with an N70 today too, I managed to flash it at last.
Try the following: uninstall fia 6.xx package and install 5.51 and dctxbb5 1.4d.

I suppose that is one way, but I get a bit irritated when newer versions don't work with phones that I've flashed successfully before.

I may try it out on one of my machines to see if the older version works for me.

Not good advise at all, best to say:-

Try the following: uninstall fia 6.xx package and delete your flash folder and then install dctxbb5 1.4e.

I have said it before, DCTx is using a custom set of flash loaders, if you install standard flash packages you will have all sorts of errors. Saras needs to analyse the new flash pack before it will work correctly.

Odia.

Yes, in my case I have not installed any fia packages, I'm only using the DCTx installed fia files. My guess is that the phone has a slightly different hardware spec, but I don't quite see why the APE 2nd boot sequence fails, unless it's the loader being too old again.

Well, to finish off this tale, this morning I flashed a 6680 (5 pin cable, had horrible problems until I applied finger pressure to the cable header right through the flashing process) and then the N70 which was failing just worked without any problems.

I think a lot of these problems are due to cable connectivity, the Nokia flashing interfaces with spring pins and flat PCB pads look likely to be a bit problematic, and indeed they often are.

This was using DCTxBB5 1.4e software.

yes, that's why I first check connection (clean both phone and cable pins).
