adding diode for Dongle protection!


hi
i got a new box, and i saw in the support the atached picture showing a diode adaed to the dongle for protection!
i already had a dead sws-sag(key not found), that's why i bought the jtag and i don't wanna get the same situation.
should i really add this diode? what does it used for?
