contacts back up problem

i tried to make a back up of contacts from a 6230i, now all contacts are gone from the phone, they dont appear to be saved on my pc even though the sofware said it was done and to make things even worse whenever i try to enter names and numbers onto the phone manually they are not there when i check, also when using the NAMES key on the phone all i get is the message "INVALID SELECTION"

can anyone help me with this cheers

Did you tried ENMUERATE or DUMP?
Dump can't destroy Phoebook, its only reading, parsing it and saving to HTML.
Enumerating CAN destroy !

All will be explained in user manual.
Contacts you can DUMP even if Enumeration area is destroyed. (not sure how about 6230i). Same situation as with You huzsolt.
You written some time ago backup w/o enumeration area - so its to reconstruct Enumeration area. If enumeration area is bad - then no contacts displayed (or corrupted) in phone, but they ARE STORED (so you can DUMP them).
If all are ok, then no need to Re-Enumerate phonebook!

I remember that, My customer ALMOST eat me , but now is clear.
In basic words "enumerate" re-indexes Phone book if it is damaged, to be able to save it, right?

Yes, agree.
But enumeration area is not yet fully reversed by me, so this is expermiential feature. I tested it with 3100 and works well. Make sure to have always backup of Phonebook made (both enumerate and current area). Possible to make through KS3 "backup" module.
