I've reflashed etc but still after 5 times it seems to power the phone off, even before i touch any of the testpoints

You Have A Problem With Tp Cable Or Need To Connect Nokia Charger To Mt-box

yep connect nokia charge and also chage ur dku2 cable which sets fone in local mode ...........
i have the same issue and after using usb cable to conect the fone i found every thing ok so i changed that cable and every thing went fine,,,,,
