SME45iv04 and Flash SMS Hello, I use patch "send flash sms directly from the phone" and "LCC. Left Characters Countdown". Now, suddenly it doesn’t work, to send a sms as flash sms. Don’t know why – I haven’t change anything in phone/patch??? SMS always would be send as normal sms. What could be the reason – does anybody know? (I don’t forget to add 1 space in the beginning of the message!) I have some questions about flash sms: 1. How many characters could be send in flash sms (is there a limitation)? 2. What happens, if I send more? 3. What happens, if I get serval flash sms – will they all be displayed in idle? Hope somebody can help!? BR genetic1

Can you post which FlashSMS and LCC patch version are you using? Answers: 1: Don't know, but I think cannot be more than 1 SMS long. 2. Don't know, try and tell us. 3. No, the last arrived one is "overwritten" over previous one.

Looking back to fw routines, the answer should be: NO, IMPOSSIBLE they don't "interfere" each others. But in my patches experiences I found out that sometimes also very distant and apparentely "not-related" routines, are related somehow in the working phone. So, as usual, the only think to do is TEST it, first with only FlashSMS patch applied than with both ones.

Is there a bug in FlashSMS patch? Did FlashSMS patch work at your mobile(s)? BTW, if FlashSMS patch is "interfered" by any patch who uses actual very distant and apparentely "not-related" routines, how can we find out, which patch it is? BR genetic1 Last edited by genetic1; 12-01-2004 at 18:56. | |

Yes, probably there is just a bug in FlashSMS patch. No relationship with LCC patch. I remember there were other newer Russian patch versions, in their forum (Siemens-club.ru). Maybe they had discovered and fixed this bug. I cannot find it in my patch "database" (or more properly, patch "mess") ![]() The only sure way to find if patch interfere with one other, is to try to remove one of it. For this reason, the best way to test (new) patches should be to apply them one by one, using phone for a while each time a new patch is added. Anyway, it's (very) rare that two patches interfear each other (if not using the same SPs or related starting routines,or using the same free space), and usually an acute observer and deep fw-knowledger can find the missing link, and eventually correct them.

No, I don't know Russian, but use a online translator to try to read what they are writing (anyway translation is terrible!). The x4x page in siemens-club.ru is this: http://forum.siemens-club.ru/viewboard.php?BoardID=9 No, I don't use FlashSMS patch.

I've checked out... in my phone there is not this strange behaviour. But there are at least 4 type of Flash SMS, I can check only 3... About changing flash SMS icon in display string, it's possible. But it's a font icon, you have to search and edit it with SCE.
