What are the hardware differences, anything else than the battery ?

What is the difference between sl42 and sl45?

Is it better to buy a new sl42, and upgrade it to sl45i, and save 50€ or buy an already sl45i?

i don't know is it true but i heard that sl42 cant' handle bigger than 32mb mmc cards

Yes but if you load new(v55 or v56) software you will get sl45 which works with biger mmc than 32.
p.s.
If you load software f.e. v56 to sl42 you will get sl45 and when you activate java you will get sl45i

mauzzer, Fisz: yes I know.. and I know how to upgrade to sl45i. What I was wondering is if there are any hardware differences ? And what is SL42 ??? same as SL45 or older?

Older, cheapo release. Basically same components as an sl45, but only 16mb MMC and in some areas came without data cable and sync station. But otherwise no diff
