Member: 5877 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Thx Cryo, I made the upgrade, I know that it doesn't support Java. I only ask if does any sw egsist with Java supp like the SL45i. Is the hw not enough for it? I think it is a newer construction than the SL. I have an S25 too, I wanted to have Wap1.1 in, but the Siemens wrote, that the hardware is too weak for it. Is the same problem with SME45 or "only" the sw is missing? |

Member: 12319 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Even though ME45/S45 doesn't support Java, I found that both of the firmwares have a reference to a directory named "A:\KJava" into the Flexmem. A Kernel Java maybe??? I also found that the firmwares recognizes T9 .LDB files and Language .LNG files which are used in SL45's MMC. The T9 .LDB files can be opened by the left softkey, but it doesn't do anything and doesn't affect anything. The Language .LNG files can also be opened by the same key and the Option menu has a "Set language" menu item. But again, it doesn't do and affect anything. Other than the directory reference named "A:\KJava" I've mentioned above, there are: "A:\T9 data base" "A:\Language" "A:\Email In" (I wonder what this is) "A:\Text" |

Member: 5877 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Yes, the ldb file I have tried too, with the same result. It recognises the file (downloaded from an SL), can be selected, but notting happened. The Java stuff as well, I tried the activator for SL45, but no result, no menu item plus, but no phone dead. I hope that Siemens relases a Java supported version, I am waiting for it very badly... |

Member: 9600 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Hello there. I was wondering about JAVA-support posibility in ME/S45 as well. There are signs of JAVA existing in firmware, like that one which was mentioned by JAELANICU. There is also menu called "javadumm" in "Date/Time" from Developer Menu. JAVA (J2ME) is not Siemens technology (but Sun's), so it is the same in all mobiles that support it (or quite the same). Maybe there is a possibility to take JAVA from SL45i and upload it to ME45 flash somehow (not directly of course). There are few members on this forum who know Siemens' flash structure very well (DarkBear, SkyLord and more) and we're using their work (like DevMenu or ME/S45 to ME/S45i conversion). Maybe someone could tell us something about upgrade ME/S45 with JAVA (and maybe even find out how to do it! ). On the other side I don't think there will ever be such upgrade available from Siemens. It would be against the company buissnes (there's no upgrade S45 to S45i even though it is possible... ). What is more, there is new line of Siemens mobiles (I can't wait anymore for S55! ), so there is no purpose for Siemens for working on old models... |

Member: 5877 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | You are right Whatever! I allredy wrote to Siemens, thay said it isn't possible to make it. (Hm, or not?) I think there are many things -like the new Race Ace, and even the games, and others- in SME45 wich is Java based. We need a Java builder into the flash, perheaps dowloaded and diassembled from an SL45. Of course many of SL45 user wuold be happy to have GPRS on their phone. Look at TheSig's site, it's realy good value. http://thesig.spils.lv Thanx all who supported us. dk |
