sl42 D2 with Java already!

Hi!

Since my old SL45 with is dead (maybe I get it alive, but I doubt, I already tried almost everything) I bought new SL42 instead.

I plan to upgrade it with v.54 or 56 (what do you reccommend) and I already put in 64 MB MMC card.

The question is:

This is a model produced for German GSM operator D2: truning on animation is D2, logo is "Load a game - D2", there is predefined WAP profile D2-WAP, and two dial-in access connections (D2 and iN-FUSIO) which I cannot delete (ater turning on they come again).

Version of software is v.81 and I believe it wasn't never locked (at least it isn't now and all 5 rows are unbarred when I type *#0606# without SIM).

That's not all: this model instead of standard Siemens x45 Games has some Java game with possibility to download new via WAP (D2-Load-A-Game) - something similar to MT50. It doesn't have "normal" x45 games nor classic Java (there is no Java menu).

My question:

Is it safe to upgrade this model with fw 52 or 54 and activate Java? Should I read and save flash and EEPROM first (and anything else?) in case of something gone wrong?

yes it is safe to upgrade to a SL45i ( I GESS THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO RIGHT) i would use unisiemens to back up your eeporm and flash..........you must download logger 4.03.....
from DRUG_STORES FILES..........just save a log file with logger and send it to me and i will send you a map file back to you as you will need this after you have upgaded your phone because once you turn your phone on it will say "wrong software"
dont worrie once the map fille i send you is writen bak to the phone it will all be ok.!
download fw56 from DRUG_STORES FILES then use unisiemens to flash it...type 5F0000 over th 600000 in the FLASH filed
then just press write flash and wiat.............................
then just take the batery out of the phone put it back it and write the map file back to the phone and thats it all will be upgaded
P.s if you want java download java-activater then it will be in the menu under serf/fun........................

Well I don't remember now, I did it with some ordinary program you can find on the net (there can nothing go wrong).

Maybe it is a wise idea to save first your EEPROM content with program UNISiemens.

first sorry the section maybe will wrong but i have sl45 and i wat to upgrade to sl45iv56 my question is when you use logger403 after flash or before flash becouse i didnt flash my phone yet but when i use the logger when i press read phone it gives a com port error something like com port already opened i dont remember the whole words and is it the same like reading map from the phone first then flash and again write map to phone with ksie

y don't you just use winswup v56 then use java activator to activate java. these files can be located in DRUG_STORE group. this is simplier and will only take 2 steps. just run the winswup then viola! you have v56 firmware. if you like java, use java activator. can't remember the exact link for DRUG_STORE group. just use the search function. hope this will help.
