works with seriell cable too, but my v8 not...v10 i haven't looked at

No, this trick with com port work only for software killed SX1.
U need update only CORE with com port after update soft automaticaly swith to USB mode and you need check all other components in left panel and flash phone by USB cable.

It`s work only in 8-10 version
