S46 - howto First-then-Last Name instead of Last-then-First Name ? - GSM-Forum

I only want to change the phone book appearance form LastName-then-FirstName to FirstName-then-LastName.
Is there any hacking possible on that ? Maybe something from other S series and same generation (S45x, SL45x, etc.) that can apply to S46 also.

(what a stupid guy there at Siemens that programmed this behavior)

You simply could write last name in the FirstName field and opposite

and then change fields' description in language file (I don't know if you are able to do it in S46).

G_spot is absolutely right. And if you are just starting your adventure with patching and all this stuff and don't know how to change the language, download Siemens Language Editor v1.4 by Skylord and decompile the language from the backup file of your software - fubu. Then you'll only need to edit the created file in some word processor - Wordpad will do perfectly - and then compile the language file back to the fubu. Finally, you'll copy the fubu into the phone and "taa daam" you've got what you wanted

Yes, but what about syncronization wiht Outlook?
IMHO, it would be better to use a patch (but it doesn't exist)

I cannot / don't want to do that, because it breaks the compatibility with my other phone (Motorola e398). I do the sync via Outlook for both phones.
In fact, I bought my S46 because (1) it has monochrome display wich is good visible in direct sunlight, (2) it has relatively big internal memory for contacts (more than enough for me), (3) it can sync with Outlook and (4) it can do (3) via IRD.
So, my problem remains ...
