@APP menu:

The story why I relocate "Menu Mode" instead of changing --Help-- menu was: I want to minimize the deletion of menu item (maybe somebody still need Help). But, now, I think, nobody use Help anymore, especially sub-Help inside the Setup menu, so I did modify the APP v3 (to become v3b) menu as in the Sticky posting (change --Help-- to Application). Please reapply, and sorry not to keep the v3 patch in that Sticky (for someone who really do not want to loose their Setup-Help menu) ...

Siemens Flash Explorer 'sfe':

New sfe v2.26, downloadable from http://www.geocities.com/rizapn with these modification and improvement :

*) bug correction for disassembler function with 'p' options. Some org was not displayed correctly.
*) remove 'mem_' output display for disassembler with 'p' options, make the output more assembler-able without any modification.
*) add 'base' mnemonic and baseAddr options for assembler (usefull in 'p' options). Firmware address will be automatically convert to fullflash file offset, for example "org 0c70000" will produce "0x270000: ..." patch output with base 0A00000h.
*) add original files as a parameter for assembler with 'p' options to create a full patch output.
*) add 'modify' firmware text capability as a subfunction of 'l' command.
*) add 'dump' firmware in hexa-and-ascii format as a subfunction of 'f' command.

Hello people!
Here`s some interesting bytes:

1.Vertical coordinate and font style of date/time string in several modes. The zero level is the first line under net/battery indicators string, (-1) level is FF, (-2) is FE etc.

18E67A: 31 XX ; Netsearch
18E67C: 07 XX ; Font style

18E6A2: 31 XX ; Normal
18E6A4: 07 XX ; Font style

18E6C2: 31 XX ; Logo
18E6C4: 07 XX ; Font style

2.Vertical coordinate and font style of the operator name string

18E692: 09 21 ; operator name
18E694: 03 XX ; Font style

18E672: 09 21 ; net search
18E674: 03 XX ; Font style

So, data in the location 18E650-18E6D4 is table of coordinate, font style etc for main screen mesages in some modes. I`m not trying everything of this, only several ones.

Could there be an error in the current APP patch? If I choose Settings/Application the mobile crashes, the old version works with now problems. I think there's an error in the entrypoint

hello,
i have no problem with APPv3a patch.

trustkill&cypher:
"This v3 use also the old SCI 'SMS Counter Info' patch area, so use the latest
;version of SCI if you want to apply both."
maybe this is the answer?

Its v3b that causes the problem.

The entrypoint and textstring for app3b seems to be okay - I checked this. I think it's the submenu the old APP and APP3a created/creates. Maybe the routines to get the submenu were not all clearly deleted - that's my suggestion...
Anyway I can't help because my knowledge in assembler goes hardly to zero

btw is there any siginificant difference between APPa und APPb? I mean that in future we must use the b version because patches don't use the same byteadress to be checked (stupid question)? I think a working menu is better than a dead one

i'm asking RizaPN to make the application menu v3a the major one for applying new patches. I think this is better one than 3b and undoing version 3a makes some defects in firmware.

Defects in firmware? Explain! I think that's nonsense. I reinstalled 3a more than 10 times and there wasn't ANY errormessage (except as I changed the values for loading textstrings )) But I don't care
