Some Patch ideas for S/Me45i

Ports from SL45 -> S/Me45

Left Softkey Function
SMS View Shortcut

Is there a better patch for the USI Unread SMS Indicator then the one provided by ntc for S/Me45 series?

1. Left Softkey Function:
I had done it long long time ago and have it somewhere in my huge db (didn't find in a quick search).
I've never pubblished, because I was thinking (and still think) to create a patch for choosing a preferred EP for each button in stby, short and long pressed.
So, pubblishing a futher button stby patch would only create mess.

2.SMS View Shortcut:
tried long time ago, but was unable.
Mainly because S45 support EMS, like long SMSes. So SMSes routines are much more complex than SL45, and SL45 patch cannot be ported esaily.
Morover, there is the well know S45i byte saving fw (full of calls and jmps), and registers shifting ... that makes patches porting quite difficult in most cases.
Maybe now I can get another look, SOONER OR LATER.

3.Is there a better patch for the USI Unread SMS Indicator then the one provided by ntc for S/Me45 series?
try this one MES. Missed Events String in Idle/Screensaver

1)
Well if you find it, can you post it here? It isn't important but would be a nice feature.

2)
That's a pity This is one patch I really miss in comparisem to SL45 but also not much important. A nice gimmick imho. I know you don't have much time.

3)
Yes thank you. I revealed the patch yesterday. Really really nice. Better then the USIs for SL45.

@lalo
I just use hardly 10 patches. And all patches are running very good. The "Read SMS Missed Events.." patch is cool, the toggle option with up arrow is fine and the "long press" left softkey feature is also usefull Thank you

MES and OPR are killers They look as some Siemens-software developer made them.

Maybe me are some other is posting some patche requests for S/Me45 here.

Some graphical patches...

For profile showing in idle I use this and combine it with the profile pictures packed in the archive...
The pictures are setted between the two softbuttons (as in my SL45 mobile) looks nice imho and we don't have to remove profile logo by pressing a key

;*** SPL. Show Profile Logo v4 ***

; Show profile logo on main screen
;Firmware : S/ME45i-v04
;Authors: ACiD [mrp], Release V2, May 29, 2003

; amacri, Release V4, Oct 25, 2004
; - Uses pictures 295 to 301 (Normal, Quiet, Noisy, Car Kit, Headset, User 1, User 2)
; with no limit for the resolution;
; - Coordinates are configurable through full range of values (see patch customisations):
; this allows placing the logos in any position of the screen.
; - The logo disappears when a digit is pressed (AL&DC required for this).
; - Optional integration with AL&DC (ANIMATED OPERATOR LOGO AND DIGITAL CLOCK);
; if allowed, the profile logo will overlap the operator logo: this will allow using
; bigger pictures than resolution 32*8 (ref. previous version of ACP) and the
; profile logo will then lap an area of the animated logo.
; REQUIREMENT: AL&DC v.8 must be installed.

; Limitations: currently this patch only integrates the animated operator logo
; (so, neither integrates the digital clock option of AL&DC, nor ANM).

Certainlly is less "correct" than mine... but it's shorter and no possibility of patches conflict.

yes, it's a good idea... maybe integrated in something bigger like this S55 avkiev patch

BUT... there are already a lot of patch waiting to be finished and pubblished before this one... and ZERO time for making it

Anyway I'll add in my (very long) to do list

BR

Lalo

BTW:
What do you think of a standby life timer? I mean a info string with written how much time rests before battery is empty, shown somewhere in st-by screen or in a MsgBox.
For example a string with written : accu: 35% - lifetime: 1d 14h 23m
Like in old Ericsson phones!

Which charge monitor parameters could be used to build it?
I have some Dev Monitor parameters descriptions, but they are all not complete

(Of corse no patch development will start for a long time)

2Lalo:
About no time - I'm agree... :-)

About Lifetimer - it wl be great! But, for example, my accu calibration is not good (not my ME45 EEPROMs in it) and after reboot phone if in Charge Monitor Cap is 001% - mAh shown ~003, but not ~830 as in good calibration :-( ... After some calls it stand 000% and 850mAh...

How patch correctly count it?!...
Anyway, this patch is need too. ;-)

@Lalo

Quite wild idea (you was conceived about this too earlier, I think)...
But know that on all it is necessary to spend much time...

Much patches are already created, which could be form UNI_Patch for S/ME45i.
You has understood about than I think?!... ;-)

If you has done such - it was "enormous step" for improvement Our and without that suitable telephone!... :-)

I suspect that most big problem - patch "AL&DC" by Redkin...
I asked Redkin to improve patch, but I see, he is not interested already in patchmakers for S/ME45i... But sting... :-(
The Last that he has done - a version 0.9 alpha, where was increased speed of animation, he gave me it for testing.
Before 0.9 betta version has not improved, but he promised to give sources one, will ask...
I can ask for you if you are interested?!...

@Danila:

UNI_Patch for S/ME45i?
Honestly, I don't like this idea too much.

Reasons:
-not all patches can be inserted (I mean, I don't think to really have all world patches developed and each time a new patch is made you have to insert it in UNI...)
-no possibility to strongly custumize the patches (or at least, it will need a lot of code...)
-no possibility to choose which patcn you really want to apply (see how many SL45 user don't use UNI)
-no space for such a big UNI-patch (it could be made as .bin but S45 don't have MMC, so space is little)
(-difficulty)

I really prefer single patches and NAM menu.
IMHO it seems to me that UNI patch is for "patch beginners", not for skilled patcher. It's a nice patchpack but cannot be complete. And to use it is somehow similar to flash a someone else patched FuBu in your phone... I prefer create my own...

Morover.. I have already other patch projects opened and not finisched
AND
as usual... NO TIME

Whic problems has Redkin's AL&DC v0.8? Which improuvments did you ask him?

@Lalo

I have understood you...
That, shall enjoy single patches :-)

In AL&DC v 0.8 - no problems, but I wanted to Screensaver's Animation Speed worked quicker...

As I spoke, he has done this in v 0.9 Alpha, but nowhere its did not publish... Since, animation works only in idle mode, but in ScreenSaver mode telephone is switched off under (S)exit - is on.
Also I asked to introduce several bin-files in Device\Display/Screensaver\Style - bic.bin, to example or anclock.bin with rolling second arrow... but, as I spoke earlier - an ideas not marketed...

Version 0.9 send In private message...

@Dan

I totally agree with lalo and his opinon about UNI-patches. There are much usefull features there but do you really need an option to select the behaviour of the call lists? In UNI for SLIK you can choose 4 option of Call-Records-behaviour. I think UNI is good for patch beginners but my mobile is good configurated and I don't want to loose all the work just to have one or two new (and usefull) features. That's only my opinion. The next thing is, the lack of custumisation. I don't want to be dependent on a bunch of developers.

@lalo
I asked you a question in my last posting

@cyper and Dan:
Exactly!
For me something similar to UNI, but much more powerfull, could be made if patchmasters agree to write a new winswup version for SL or S/ME. Calling it something like v.special.
I mean, almost rebuild all fw routine inserting all good and well tested patches, with a lot of new menu and costumizing options in a MMC or flex mem file.
Then, after creating such fubu, have long betatested... going back to a winswup version.
And than continuing the patches writing, starting on this new winswup version, it's free spaces and pictures and ringtones and vibratones and...
This will be a very stimulating and great goal.

But again... some patches make almost the same function... wich insert? Both and selectable? Ok, possible, but...
And who will coordinate such difficult project? Who will help in this opensource project? Where are all patchmasters gone? Who has all that needed time (me too)?

No... I think this will remain just a dream...

@Cyper:
you know well that ALL is possible with adeguate knowledge ... and time
bye

Lalo
