7610: access internal memory without a simcard [not resolved yet]

My phone (nokia 7610),after water damage, keeps saying "insert sim card" on boot even tho a simcard is in it. Is there anyway to bypass the simcard check and boot into the phone so I can retrieve info from the internal memory in the phone? Maybe some combination of the keys or somehow with the usb-2-phone cable? I already tried to turn the phone one and at the screen where it says insert simcard, to connect to the phone....the pc suite couldn't connect to the phone.

Thanks.

You have completely forgotten to mention the model and brand of your phone...

I dont think that there is a way to skip sim check at bootup, because WD2 series doesn't has that feature, only bb5 can bootup without simcard...
