Member: 489398 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | 7610 keypad - please read - BEGINNER This forum has shown me some diagrams, which I can't seem to understand at all, and recommends soldering the keys (?) to specific connectors - supposedly, the phone will recognise the fact it has been resoldered after "flashing it" and will function again, a concept which is utterly beyond me. What is an "IC"? If I don't have any other phones with the same "IC" as the 7610 that I can 'borrow', am I screwed? My main question is this. Is it worth all this seemingly frustrating, fiddly hard work which may not even fix the problem, or should I just buy a new phone altogether? - of which won't be a 7610, as much as I LOVE the phone for what it is, this physical sticking keypad problem is ridiculous - especially as I heard it has happened to so so so many people on these forums!!! Have Nokia any statement on this very annoying issue?! Many thanks in advance for reading, all replies welcomed. |

7610 keypad problem is because of five things 1st keypad. The keypad has to be orignal 2nd Keyboard. this has to be ok 3rd between main board & Keyboard connector X400 has to be ok 4th you have to check both keypad ics Z400,z401. z400 contorls 1 to 9 * # . z401 contorls functional keys 5th if these all things don,t work then this is problem of cpu D370 chack and post the result

1 - keypad is original. 2 - the keyboard has to be ok?...? 3 - what do you mean by the connector has to be ok? how will it be evident? 4 - what am i checking for? what do i have to do? 5 - i see.. and what if it was the fault of D370? i'd have to buy a new phone right? Does it really have to be this intricate? it's only the fact that the keys have to pressed really strongly... they still work, just are very stiff, does it really involve soldering and all the rest? By doing this is there a chance I will make the phone even worse? Thanks again.

what is "changing the keyboard"? Something different than the actual keypad i take it? i will have a look, but first i need a screwdriver small enough to open the phone up....
