The most important part, or the 'heart' of DCT4 Service software is the Advanced Flashing Device (AFD) - the unique hardware that makes possible to achieve the best interfacing between your computer and the repaired handset. AFD is small, lightweight and can fit in your pocket. The same time it was design to achieve high quality hardware specifications - low voltage operation and compatibility with latest Nokia DCT4 service buses ( safe 2.78 V interfacing with Nokia 7650 ), to provide safe and trouble free connection with the handset.

AFD provides high level of flexibility because of built advanced security features as License Manager and Counters. Device utility counter for repaired phones, plus if device set to limited, a unique license down counter is activated. When reach the zero device enters de-activated state when only certain features are available. This ability to change the device behavior makes possible shipping to be provided in very secure way by manufacturing only limited devices with License Counter set to small amount for demonstration purposes and after confirmation from the customer device can be activated to full Unlimited state with simple remote activation file.
