D500 No Screen Backlight


Hi, Iv recently changed the screen on my d500 and the flex cable but unfortunatly the screen now comes on but has no backlight! any ideas please?

Helo everyone,
Please help i am as my name suggests, i tried to put a new lcd in my d500 and somehow failed.
the lcd works fine but i have no backlight could someone please give me some ideas as to what is the likely broblem.

just re-solder the ribbon, and all should be ok m8

No i re-soldered the screen, i do not have a spare ribbon at this point in time i may have to get one though by the sounds of it.

well the few times i have had this problem, it has being coz they was not a good join on the solder

Have you checked for signs of water damage...obvious I know....but I have found this to be the case

I thank you for your time and will try again later, i have just come home from a 12 hour night shift and i think i am in danger of burning the house down so soldering iron is going away for now.

Thanks Paul but i replaced a broken lcd no water damage i just didnt do a good job by the sounds of it , will have another go tonight.

Please anyone out there can you give me some ideas i have resoldered the screen and unplugged and re plugged the ribbon cable same problem no lcd backlight ....
is it possible there is a problem with the screen ?? or does the fact that the desplay works meen the screen is ok??

in answer to my question the screen workes fine after i removed the solder that was bridging the 2 connecting points i put too much solder on.
so for any othe damstupids out there if your backlight is not working after replacing a lcd check the point you have to solder and make sure both sides are attatched seperately .
Hope this helps, thanks to simzmobiles for pointing me in the right direction.
