Member: 653932 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 63 | [F480] installing new widgets, deleting unnecessary files this time is for playing with f480 heavily we cannot still modify two the most important files of the firmware [.bin and .rc1] yet from some time there is a way to modify .ffs file what can we do through that? - delete unnecessary images, wallpapers or tones - delete/remove locked games - add games without necessity of uploading them later - install new widgets offline we need: - winimage program http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/G...nt/download.htm - ffs file from the firmware we want to modify - widgets or widget pack eg. http://www.mediafire.com/?jomb2wzwmmk winimage itself is pretty easy in handling so I'll only describe briefly a way how to add widgets to the desired FW 1. run winimage 2. go to SystemFS/MediaSet and drag the unpacked widget pack http://www.mediafire.com/?jomb2wzwmmk 3. save file 4. download such modified ffs to your mobile using fastmultiloader visual instruction: attention! after loading modified .ffs file there is very high probability that the telephone will go through standard format procedure same as while loading new firmware so remember to backup anything you need remeber that everything you do you do at your own risk and neither I nor anyone form this forum takes no responsibility for any damage you may cause by using these procedures! n'joy regards, stn |

Member: 653932 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 63 | as a matter of fact, I knew about winimage a bit earlier, it started on a russian forums, my friend mentioned it to me, when it comes to images as I wrote, not all of them are in ffs, some are in rc1 I'm especially curious about widgets, I don't have this phone myself so I couldn't check it, in the package you have 27 widgets regards |

Member: 951015 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | It's a bit more complicated than that. Here's how to actually do it. 1. Open WinImage, and click on Open Folder- icon. Browse to the firmware folder you want to modify and open the FFS file. (Note that WinImage is searching for .bin- files by default, so change that to "all files".) 2. Go to SystemFS -> Mediaset -> Widget 3. Drag the widgets you want to add to this folder. 4. Save. 5. Go to SystemFS -> User -> WidgetDefault.ini 6. Open WidgetDefault.ini 7. Either change the amount of widgets in the text file (.ini) or change the titles of default widgets to correspond the ones you just dragged to Widget-folder. 8. Save the text file you just modified to Desktop as "WidgetDefault.ini" and drag it to the SystemFS/User-folder, select YES to overwrite the old file. 9. Save. 10. Do a firmware flash with the FFS. Should work Last edited by idkhannes; 02-24-2009 at 16:57. |

2. Yes, you can change between firmwares as much as you want. Not that there's much difference between them. Some ridiculous menu colors and font types and that's it. I really regret ever getting this phone. It's miles behind Nokia. | |
