THIS WORKED ON MY AT&T SGS2, HOWEVER, I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF IT BRICKS YOUR PHONE.

Root phone with Odin tool

*How to Root phone samsung galaxy S2 (SGH-I777)

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
* how to flash with Odin
1. Power off device.
2. Hold down both vol down+vol up and plug in usb cable
3. Hit volume up and accept warning
4. Open odin
5. Choose the kernel you just downloaded and load into PDA.
6. Click start and let it run completely and boot up.
7. With phone booted make sure you have usb debugging checked and plug your phone back in.
8. Open Super One Click and click root.

2. Go to market and search for "Galaxy S Unlock", the author is "Helroz".
3. Run the app from step 2. Go to "Unlock SGSII" tab on the top of the screen.
4. Tap on the first item:"Step 1 Backup files...."
5. Tap on the second item:"Step 2 Change lock-bytes", and wait until your phone restarts.
6.Bingo, your phone is sim unlocked after the reboot.

my friend tel me that 'Helroz' is working.....
but my problem is i dont know how to root my unit,
newbie here in Adroid world... huhu
