Hi,
...and for Z300, the process is the same? Can i use the original samsung cable with no complications? Does the IMEI became different after the unlock operation or no?
Changes only the firmware.
Does anyone know where i can find an unbranded firmware for Portugal?

If i want to use the codes that i can easiely find in the forum, the phone became unlocked too but with the operator logos.
This operation will change the IMEI?

Hello!

The procedure should be valid for a Z300 aswell. Successful flash will not change your IMEI.

I would recommend you to try http://www.anvi.it/forum/index.php?showtopic=20637 to find an appropriate firmware.

Z300MMEG1 or Z300AIEG3 would be a recommended choice but I cannot wouch for how clean the firmware is.

Regarding the language it seems like most firmwares contains many languages. But to be sure open the firmware files in a hex editor and search for the text strings.

You can use the original cable assuming it's the same kind of cable as a Z500. But it probably is.

Using the unlock codes did not change my Z500 IMEI. I cannot wouch for a Z300 yet they should operate the same.

Finally! 100% NON-BRANDED Firmware! Made by RexNet. I do not known italian so i just used babelfish to convert the following text.

Z500REX02

Characteristics of this version:
1) Based on the Z500MMEG1;
2) No MIX to firmware used in order to obtain it;
3) disposed Keys like the Z500MMEG1 (Messages/Menu/Phonebook);
4) Size maximum MMS 300KB;
5) adopted a position Profiles cancellabili;
6) Duration of increased battery (+5% compared to Z500AIEG1);
7) Also works with SOME not compatible sims in the Z500AIEG1;
8) Text corrected in "Battery Discharge";

Hi, I´ve applied this in a Z500, from Portugal. But now when I turn on it asks for the sim, says its a wrong sim inserted...
Can someone answer this??!!

OK, it works. But only after I apply the codes for unblocking the phone. And I need to repeat this procedure every time I turn off the phone!
Can some one help!!???

I don't know if it's possible to read firmware from the phone.
But i seriously doubt it thought.

I unlocked my phone using the cable, and winIMEI method, and I haven't had any problems with sim errors after flashing my phone (which I've done 4 times with 4 different firmwares).
Try unlocking it that way, maybe its more permanent.

tientje: There is currently no tool that can read/backup your old firmware. Also there is no point to backup your firmware anyway. If something goes wrong so bad you can't flash it again then your backup wont help you, right? And if everything goes ok, or at least ok enough to put the phone in download mode you can flash again with another new firmware, what would you need your old firmware for? If you are so concerned i suggest you do not flash at all. Leave it for upgrade at an authorized samsung service spot.
