Has anyone come across this "This copy of Windows is not genuine; you may be a victim of software counterfeiting." problem? I am using a genuine one. How can I remove this adware? I have removed a program called Wgatray.exe and its associated ones. There is still some program that controls the gateway and I don't know what it is??

log on safe mode
replace this dll (in windows\system32) LegitCheckControl.dll
wit the once i give you
restart pc ... all is gone
just dont update windows , or at least dont update this tool again (you can uncheck it )

Windows Xp Wga Permanent Fix Tool, Makes your XP seem legit

Here's a nice tool:
Please note that this is for XP Pro version only
To avoid the problems with updating LegitCheckControl.dll and for the probs you may find with the WGA updates when you've installed XP on other peoples' PCs, I've made a tool with MSKey4in1 (included in the attachment) so that you can make your XP install appear legit for any M$oft downloads and updates etc. Your XP will appear as though you have bought it.
You must have admin rights and the tool will work whether you've tried the update site on the PC in question or not.
Generate your key as per the instructions, paste the key into the tool and click GO. Once done the tool can be deleted from the system.
Instructions are in the .nfo - open it in notepad.

just go here they show you the updates and even what they for,then jus click thier link to download the updates u want.
funny thing is the link downloads from the microsoft site,with no trouble at all,u jus using this site to get direct link,

but to ans ur question u got spyware it new version of "mssearchnet" easy to get rid.spybot search destroy and disable system restore.
that is if you talkin bout the thing in your taskbar tellin u that u got illegal win xp IT HOAX dont fall 4 it..

Damn, I always thought my XP was a genuine copy but I was wrong. Anyway, my problem is solved. The non genuine crap has gone for now.

for all having problems on update Windows

Click on update windows
When u see EXPRESS and CUSTOM buttons
replace the adress that may be http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us in the adress bar with this
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')
than Hit GO
nothing will happen
but if u Click again CUSTOM will see that
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD UPDATES
